Today I had the urge for tacos and it's not even Taco Tuesday LOL. My youngest daughter and I went to Alberto's Mexican Foods in Oak Hills. I've known about this place for awhile now, but just didn't get a chance to check them out until today. At first, we were planning to walk in, but my daughter saw the drive-thru sign so we went through drive-thru instead. We ordered the Chicken Taco Plate, Fish Taco Plate, Chicken Asado, and 8 piece Chicken Nuggets. When we got up to the window, I saw the Agua Frescas containers and inquired what were available... I ended up getting Pina which is pineapple and Jamaica aka hibiscus. Both drinks were very light in flavor almost like watered down, but then at the end of the drink, the flavor kinda kicks in... not sure how to explain it. I prefer Jica over Pina. We'll try Horchata next time. As for the foods, the flavors were on point... very yummy! Tons of chicken chunks in tacos. The taco shell tastes like they were refried for a crispier crunch... my eldest daughter and I loved it! Good spice in chicken asado. Rice was fluffy and moist. Beans and cheese were not heavy at all which is a good thing. Lots of tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and cilantro. The only down sides were the fish taco (fish batter was a bit oily and fish meat was not very tender and moist) and chicken nuggets (little bit spongy... like tofu texture). We'll try their tacos with carnitas next time. I was hoping they would have ceviche, but they don't... bummer! Staff was friendly and patient with me. The lady didn't give me a hard time when I was adding the drinks to my order at the window. Thank you Daniela! Prices were very reasonable. Portions were of good size. They do have breakfast served all day... sweet! So glad they have a drive-thru, but one day we may walk in just to check out this joint. Come on over and support your high desert Alberto's!
